The Mimosa Games event has been resurrected from 8 years ago and I appreciate many of you may not know much about it but I know you have enjoyed schooling at the Caledon Riding Club. So let me share a bit more details of the event to spark your interest.
The Mimosa Games originated from the Mimosa Farm. It became great fun annually for riders and horses alike to "compete" in a fun way, enjoy cross country and surrounding farms at the Caledon Riding Club and do some different events for both horse and rider.
This year we have joined with the Eglinton Caledon Hounds in bringing this super event to life.
The day begins with registration and a pinnie. Registration is $120 and includes any or one or all of the events. The dog agility and races are free.
You start with a hunter pace at 9am which lasts approx 1 hour, roaming through the fields and trails of the club grounds and surrounding properties to a timed course set by the ECH huntsman. Jumps are optional and there are questions and answers throughout the course to learn about hunting hounds. Everyone lines up and the start and teams of 2-4 can head out at 2 minute intervals. |Jumps are 60-75 cm and completely optional.
When you get back you are welcome to walk the "race" course on the club grounds and/or join in a working equitation/obstacle course class from 11-12. Try your hand on horseback at opening and closing a gate, walking over horse bridges and a water box, etc
From 12 -1 is a chance to have lunch, rest your horse and enjoy and or participate in canine agility at our tennis courts and then a fun dog race by the clubhouse. It's free and anyone can join. We just need 2 handlers for each dog and sign up for heats at registration sign in.
1-2 is a trotting race. You can only TROT and the course goes around pylons, everyone at once, around the stadium ring ( well a bit farther out) and finishes up the stadium driveway. If you canter you must go to the back of the pack! Spectators will be watching! This will also be a great warm up for the races
2-4 pm will be the "races"...a time honored event. Teams of pairs will race first, lining up at the start to be timed over a 5-7 min course of 15 ish optional jumps ( going around will take longer) similar to the horse trials course of 60-75 cm. Form a team with a friend and have fun. Gallop when you want of course. We want you to ride safely. After the pairs , the singles will go. Same deal, LIne up and wait to go.
Ribbons and trophies and prizes are for all events.
Its a fun day designed to meet new friends, have a low key competition and enjoy more jumps at the riding club and surrounding properties at whatever pace you feel comfortable.
ANY questions please feel free to reach out to me.
Please share with your friends and reserve your spot for some relaxed and entertaining horsemanship and riding. Payment can be made on the day but reserve your spot as we are limited to the number of riders. Please register at www.echounds.com
Very much hope to see you there to restart this memorable and interesting riding and canine event!
Cheers!
